Just to let you know that everything went fine and I had my biometrics done . In fact, you CAN DO IT in any Application Support Center. They schedule your appointment to the closest one, according to your address but if for any reason you can't go to that specific office it's possible to do it in a different one.

If you apply for immigration benefits from inside the United States (adjustment of status), your biometrics appointment will be at a local USCIS office close to the address you listed on your application. Adjustment of status applicants will usually have their biometrics appointment before their Green Card interview.

The decision to combine the biometric screenings is at the discretion of the ASC. The ASC may refuse to do so. Generally, children under 14 years of age are exempt from biometrics fee. However, your child must still appear at the ASC if a biometrics appointment has been scheduled by USCIS.

Generally, you are expected to attend the biometrics appointment at the support center noted in the notice, but my clients have encountered similar issues and have been fortunate enough to get their biometrics at other support centers. Go to the support center in the area where you are prior to the appointment date to see if they will do it there.

Yes, you can reschedule your biometrics appointment. If you can’t attend an early walk-in for biometrics appointment, the best thing to do is request to reschedule it. But, I recommend that you avoid it as it can take several weeks to months to get a new appointment date!

I was scheduled for biometrics in early November. But I just moved and updated the address on the USCIS online account. The letter was sent to my old address, so I probably won't receive the notice in mail. However, I can see and download the notice online. Can I just print the notice and go to the appointment with it instead?

I live in Hawaii and need to travel from one of the outer islands to Honolulu for my Biometrics appointment. I have to drive over an hour to the airport, fly, take a taxi from the airport to USCIS field office, then return home via the same method.

I figured out by talking to a USCIS agent that biometrics has been applied to my I-765 application. I want to know how much time does it take to approve EAD after this step? Also, if possible, can you tell me what are the steps in I-765 processing after biometrics?

Sometimes the background checks take a bit longer than others-this is particularly true when you have a common name. For whatever reason, I've noticed cases to take somewhat longer during the summer months. As long as you have a clean record, I would not worry too much about time between the biometrics and the interview.

Under the law, it says that you’re supposed to get that work authorization in 90 days or under 90 days. Lately, it’s been delayed. There’s a lot going on in immigration so the work permits have been delayed for longer than 90 days. In a lot of cases, we’ve seen people waiting four to six months to get those work permits.

Once your biometrics appointment is completed, your appointment notice will be stamped. This stamp serves as proof that you attended your biometrics appointment if the USCIS loses your records. It is, therefore, essential to keep your notice with your stamp safe! What happens after this will depend on what immigration benefit you are applying for.
Biometrics scanners are hardware used to capture the biometric for verification of identity. These scans match against the saved database to approve or deny access to the system. In other words, biometric security means your body becomes the “key” to unlock your access. Biometrics are largely used because of two major benefits:
The biometric fee is not considered a processing fee like any other cost recovery fee, but is rather a fee for service. The biometric fee is not refunded, if biometrics are provided and the application is then refused. As per the 1 in 10 policy, biometrics will remain valid for 10 years to be used for future temporary residence applications.
USCIS will mail you the biometrics appointment notice after you submit your application or petition. The appointment will take place before you receive any benefits or a card in the mail.
