  • Ideally, you should travel after submitting the biometric information, because your presence will not be required too soon afterward. If leaving is a must due to an emergency, you can also consider a service center walk-in. In case you have a USCIS service center nearby, try to find out if walk-ins are accepted.

Nevertheless, it is better to travel abroad after you submit biometric information. Some service centers accept walk-ins and if your USCIS service center accepts walk-ins, you can visit the application support center at any time and submit fingerprints and then travel abroad.

You can only give your biometrics after you pay the biometrics fee and we send you the letter that tells you how and where to give your biometrics. If there is no biometric service available where you live, you may need extra time to travel to a service location.

Before you travel to Canada, make sure your DLI is on the list of those with approved COVID-19 readiness plans. You won’t be able to enter Canada if your DLI isn’t on this list. If you applied for your study permit from outside Canada. We’ll send you a port of entry letter of introduction that says you’re allowed to study in Canada.

When you appear for your appointment, you will submit your biometrics on machines designed to collect biometrics. When you provide your digital signature, you will also be attesting, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your application, petition, or request (or one submitted on your behalf), and all documents filed in support of your application, petition, or request, were complete, true, and correct at the time of filing.

As a conditional resident, you are free to travel abroad just like any other lawful permanent resident. But there are some things you should understand about travel after filing Form I-751 and before USCIS approves the petition. Before departing, you’ll need to make sure you have the right documents to reenter the United States.
