Many people expect to receive a response or next steps from the USCIS within a few weeks of their biometrics appointment. Unfortunately, the wait will be much longer than this. Typically, it can take anything between 5 and 10 months before you get a notice for your green card interview, for example.
If you are unable to attend your scheduled biometric services appointment for good cause, you may request to reschedule your appointment by calling the USCIS Contact Center at 800-375-5283 (TTY 800-767-1833). You must make your request before the date and time of the original appointment, and you must establish good cause for rescheduling.
Generally, the whole process will only take about 15 to 20 minutes, but you might have to wait a little beforehand for your turn. Remember, the people assisting you at your biometrics appointment do not have any information about your case at the USCIS.
Your notice will provide specific instructions on what you should bring to your ASC appointment. You must also bring: Your ASC appointment notice (Form I-797C). If you received multiple biometrics appointment notices, please bring all notices to your appointment at the application support center; and
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced today that applicants, petitioners, requestors and beneficiaries may now call the USCIS Contact Center (800-375-5283) to reschedule their biometric services appointments scheduled at a USCIS Application Support Center.
In a more perfect world EAD followed prior biometric use in a couple of weeks. In a less perfect world of today it may be several months. Processing times from the filing date may be expected.
What happens after the biometrics appointment? When you have completed your biometrics appointment, the officer will stamp your appointment notice as proof. Be sure to keep the stamped biometrics appointment notice in a safe place in case USCIS needs you to prove that they collected your biometric information in the future.
